Grants to New Hampshire nonprofit and for-profit organizations, conservation groups, government agencies, water providers, and land trusts for water protection and land preservation projects. Applicants must submit an eligibility form prior to the submission of a full application. Funding is intended for programs that promote source water protection and protect the state's water supplies.

The purpose of the grant program is to protect existing public water supply sources, prepare for growth and development of new water supply infrastructure, and preserve natural infrastructure that will provide existing and future New Hampshire water users with safe, reliable supplies of water. 

Eligible projects include permanent protection of undeveloped water supply land, including wellhead protection areas, hydrologic areas of concern, and land that is likely to benefit future public water supply sources.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Municipalities, public water systems, land trusts, and other conservation organizations are eligible to apply.

Eligible applicants:
- A State agency, board, or commission or any political subdivision of the State;
- Any person or legal entity, such as a sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, association, or non-profit organization, that owns a community water system or water distribution system;
- A non-profit organization that owns a non-transient, non-community water system;
- A land trust or other non-profit organization that has among its purposes the conservation of land; or,
- Other entities approved by the Commission consistent with RSA 485-F.

Any eligible applicant may submit an application jointly with any other eligible applicant as co-applicants.

Pre-Application Information:

The eligibility application due date is anticipated to be: June 30, 2022.
The funding application due date is anticipated to be: September 8, 2022.
Award decisions are expected by early December.

In order for a project to be considered for funding, the applicant must submit an eligibility application by the deadline above. If, after review of the eligibility application is complete, the application is designated for further consideration, the applicant must submit a funding application.

The Grant will match 50% of the eligible project costs (such as land acquisition and legal/transaction costs) associated with the eligible land up to a maximum award of $500,000.
