Description:

Request a Grant Writer

Contracts for services to New Hampshire recovery community organizations for programs to benefit individuals experiencing homelessness. The program is intended to increase the number of individuals experiencing homelessness who are seeking treatment for substance abuse disorders.

This Request for Applications (RFA) is published to solicit applications from Recovery Community Organizations (RCOs) either accredited by, or working toward accreditation by, the Council on Accreditation of Peer Recovery Support Services (CAPRSS) to conduct outreach to individuals experiencing homelessness, including individuals residing in homeless shelters or encampments.

Overview:

  • A majority of individuals experiencing homelessness also exhibit clear signs of substance use disorder. They are often unaware of, or apprehensive to reach out for, substance use disorder services. Some individuals experiencing homelessness may not know how to access substance use disorder services because many services were only available virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic, which inadvertently led to individuals becoming isolated.
  • Peer recovery support is one of the most effective forms of outreach to individuals experiencing homelessness. A relationship develops almost immediately between an individual experiencing homelessness and a peer in recovery who has experienced similar hardship, which sets the stage to offer more assistance. Peer recovery coaches who are trained and supervised by the RCOs are in the best position to provide outreach because of their personal experiences and their connections to recovery services and supervision.

The Scope of Services can be found at https://www.dhhs.nh.gov/business/rfp/documents/rfa-2022-bdas-02-peerr.pdf#page=4.
