Grant Description
Awards of $2,000 to New Hampshire public elementary, middle, K-8, and high schools to honor excellence and exemplary practices. Interested applicants must submit an intent to apply form prior to submitting an application. In addition to the cash award, the winning school at each level will receive statewide recognition, a school banner, and a specially engraved school bell signifying excellence in education.

The application process will help the applicant and their school team engage in a collaborative and self-reflective dialogue focused solely on continuous improvement and excellence in education.

Applicants will be assessed against the following School Excellence Competencies:

  • The curriculum and instructional practices are presented in a rigorous, relevant and engaging learning  environment.
  • The school organizes community members, ensuring they all have a role in building the school’s climate and culture.
  • The school’s vision, mission and goals are clearly articulated, well communicated and guide practice.
  • The school has an effective system for utilizing data and information that supports personalization.
  • There is a culture of empowerment among students, staff, teachers, administration, and community members.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
All New Hampshire public schools are eligible and invited to apply.

Schools that are confident in their practices and overall excellence and that want to serve as the statewide representative of excellence for their level are encouraged to apply.

Once a school has been selected as a School of Excellence it must wait five years before it can apply again.

Pre-Application Information
Timeline:
- Applicants are requested to submit a notice of intent to apply by January 6, 2023.
- Applications are due by January 20, 2023.
- The EDies Committee will notify all schools that apply by January 30, 2023 as to whether or not they will be invited to present to the selection committee.
- Presentations to the selection committee will occur before March 11, 2023 and will be 30 minutes in length with 15 minutes for questions/answers.
- All schools will be notified by March 14, 2023 as to whether or not they will receive a visit from the selection committee.
- Visits will take place by April 22, 2023 and will be at least a half-day in length.
- Announcements will be made in early May recognizing the recipient of the award and any finalists.

The Awards Ceremony is scheduled for June 3, 2023 at the Doubletree by Hilton Manchester Downtown in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Estimated Size of Grant
